Herring Cove Beach
Three of my images will be on display at the New Hampshire Society for Photographic Artists annual Exeter Exhibition at the Exeter Town Hall Gallery, Exeter, NH. The gallery is open from noon to 4 PM Saturdays and Sundays and the show runs from January 13th through February 11th, 2018.
Two of the images are panoramas from Herring Cove Provincial Park, which is located in New Brunswick on Campobello Island. Just over the border from Lubec, Maine the island overlooks Passamaquoddy Bay on the West, and the Bay of Fundy to the East. The third image is from Rocky Harbor on Newfoundland’s west coast. Behind the water slide is an inlet of the larger Bonne Bay with Gros Morne Mountain a little further in the distance. Gros Morne national park, a UNESCO world heritage site, has its headquarters in Rocky Harbor.
My photograph “Door #1” won third prize in the New Hampshire Art Association’s 36th Annual Parfitt Open Juried Photography Exhibit. The image was taken in Woody Point, Newfoundland. The town, which looks out onto Bonne Bay on Newfoundland’s West coast, borders Gros Morne National Park. An area of exceptional natural beauty and diverse geological formations, the park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Before the road was completed around Bonne Bay in the 1960’s all surface traffic along the coast required a short ferry ride between Woody Point and Norris Point. In the early 20th century the area was heavily involved in timber harvesting. Today fishing is the major source of employment besides the tourist industry.
One of my images, Fatima, was selected for the 2015 Open Regional Juried Photography Show at the Barn Gallery in Ogunquit, Maine. The exhibition will run through Saturday, July 25 and is one of the sites of the Maine Photo Project.
The triptych is one from a series I am working on documenting baseball fields in the Atlantic Canada provinces (the Maritimes, parts of Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador).
