Two of my images were accepted into the 19th Annual Joan L. Dunfey Open Juried Exhibition which runs October 31st through December 2nd at the New Hampshire Art Association’s Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery in Portsmouth. The opening reception is Friday, November 2nd from 5 to 8 PM.
Both images were taken along the Head Harbor Wharf on Campobello Island, New Brunswick. Keep Out was taken at the entrance of a former fish processing plant. Bay Windows is a scallop shucking house. These structures are placed on boats used during the scallop season to provide some shelter for the crew members who shuck the scallops on board prior to returning to shore.
My photograph “Door #1” won third prize in the New Hampshire Art Association’s 36th Annual Parfitt Open Juried Photography Exhibit. The image was taken in Woody Point, Newfoundland. The town, which looks out onto Bonne Bay on Newfoundland’s West coast, borders Gros Morne National Park. An area of exceptional natural beauty and diverse geological formations, the park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Before the road was completed around Bonne Bay in the 1960’s all surface traffic along the coast required a short ferry ride between Woody Point and Norris Point. In the early 20th century the area was heavily involved in timber harvesting. Today fishing is the major source of employment besides the tourist industry.
Two of my images, Canadian Diamonds #1 and Canadian Diamonds #2 were part of the 2014 NHSPA Exeter Exhibition which ran January 11 to February 2, 2014 at the old Town Hall in Exeter, NH. The two triptychs are some of the images from a project I am working on documenting baseball fields in the Atlantic Canada provinces (the Maritimes, parts of Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador).
