3rd Prize in Parfitt Juried Photograhy Exhibit

The Final Door

The Final Door

My photograph “The Final Door” won third prize in the New Hampshire Art Association’s 36th Annual Parfitt Open Juried Photography Exhibit. The image was taken in Woody Point, Newfoundland. The town, which looks out onto Bonne Bay on Newfoundland’s West coast, borders Gros Morne National Park. An area of exceptional natural beauty and diverse geological formations, the park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Before the road was completed around Bonne Bay in the 1960’s all surface traffic along the coast required a short ferry ride between Woody Point and Norris Point. In the early 20th century the area was heavily involved in timber harvesting. Today fishing is the major source of employment besides the tourist industry.
